Any other supporting documents must be submitted by email.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sandra Charriez, Assistant Project Coordinator; sandra.charriez@upr.edu<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Loyda M\u00e9ndez, STCE Coordinator; lbmendez@uagm.edu<\/p>\n<p>The STCE invites proposals for Junior Research Associates Programs. Graduate and Undergraduate students who will spend no less than nine (9) academic months working on a research project with an eligible mentor in an INBRE institution, in a biomedical field related to Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, Molecular Medicine, Drug Design, or Environmental &amp; Behavioral Science.<\/p>\n<p>Priority will be given to students at PUIs working with Faculty funded by the INBRE Developmental Research Project Program (DRPP). A scientific panel composes of the STCE Coordinator and the three collaborators will review all graduate and undergraduate student proposals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection criteria for undergraduate student will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic excellence (3.00 GPS minimum) and a demonstrated interest in research.<\/li>\n<li>Application form (provided)<\/li>\n<li>Research proposal (2 pages\u2019 limit, NIH Format) to work on a relevant Research Area, which must be developed in collaboration with his\/her faculty research mentor(s). Letter minimal size 11. This documentation must be delivered 15 days before the start date.<\/li>\n<li>The start day will be contingent on the signing of the contract with the office of Human Resources, RCSE.<\/li>\n<li>At lease one poster presentation must be presented at the INBRE-External Advisory Committee visit.<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the award, participants must provide written reports describing their achievements and future plans to develop their project.<\/li>\n<li>Long term commitment to provide future information in their career path is required from the participant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><b>Project Summary\/Abstract<\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Limit length to 30 lines or less of text<\/li>\n<li>Include\u00a0the project\u2019s\u00a0broad, long-term objectives and specific aims<\/li>\n<li>Include a description of the research design and methods for achieving the stated goals<\/li>\n<li>Do\u00a0NOT include proprietary or confidential information, or trade secrets<\/li>\n<li>Write in plain language, so even a non-scientist can understand the importance of the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><b>Project Narrative<\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Describe the relevance of this research to public health in, at most, three sentences.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, NIH applicants can describe how, in the short or long term, the research would contribute to fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and \/ or the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and supplies from their PIs.
