Specialized Courses: The STEC Core will provide direct tuition funding for short-term (up to 6 months) training in areas of science and technology relevant to the needs of emerging as well as established biopharmaceutical, biotechnological, and research enterprises in Puerto Rico. The University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, Mayaguez Campus and Inter American University of PR, Metro Campus are the academic institution providing the training and offering the courses.
Looking for 12 students recruited from the pool of:
- Undergraduate students entering the undergraduate degree programs in science and technology leading to B.S. degrees at INBRE Primary Institutions.
- Graduate students with BS degrees from INBRE Primary Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs).
- Qualified laboratory workers with B.S. degrees in science that are employed in research laboratories, government bioscience based institutes and biopharmaceutical industries in Puerto Rico
- Academic excellence (3.0 GPA minimum) and a demonstrated interest to continue graduate studies
Direct tuition funding for short-term training up to 6 months.

Fill application form, two (2) letters of recommendation, a Statement of Purpose describing the students’ long-term career goals, and an official transcript.

At the end of the award, the participants will provide written reports describing their achievements and future plans to develop their project.
Thematic Technical Workshops: to provide relevant hands-on training experiences through technical workshops. These may include undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in science and technology programs at INBRE or industry personnel seeking specialized training in selected application of specialized instrumentation.
